GAD-7 anxiety scale
The GAD-7 asks about seven anxiety symptoms over the last two weeks. It screens for generalized anxiety disorder and performs reasonably as a screen for panic, social anxiety and post-traumatic stress as well.

The formula
- Seven items, each 0 to 3. Range 0 to 21.
- Bands: 0–4 minimal · 5–9 mild · 10–14 moderate · 15–21 severe
When to use it
- Screening for anxiety
- Tracking response to treatment
And when not to
- A screening instrument, not a diagnosis.
- Anxiety and depression overlap heavily; a positive GAD-7 warrants a PHQ-9 as well.

These calculators are free and always will be. We also build Nirogix, a hospital management system for Indian clinics and hospitals. The same calculations are planned inside the consultation record, pre-filled from the chart.
