EMR and hospital software for psychiatry

Confidential long-term records, recurring reviews, and controlled prescribing.

About psychiatry

Psychiatry treats mood, anxiety, psychotic and substance use disorders, and the conditions of childhood and old age, usually over years of reviews. The record is among the most sensitive a hospital keeps, prescribing involves controlled medicines, and progress is followed with rating scales.

What makes this specialty hard to run

The operational problems a system has to answer, before any feature list.

  1. 01

Records are among the most sensitive a hospital keeps, and who may read them matters as much as what they say.

  2. 02

Care runs for years in scheduled reviews, and the medication history across them is the record.

  3. 03

Many medicines are controlled, and some may never be prescribed remotely.

  4. 04

Severity is followed with rating scales from visit to visit, not by impression alone.

How Nirogix supports psychiatry

Grouped the way the day runs. Every line says whether it is in the product today or planned.

Available todayPlanned, not available yet

Clinical pathways are reference content your clinical team reviews and edits as its own; nothing is ordered or prescribed until a doctor chooses it. Calculators inform a decision and do not write to the record. A line that needs a particular module names it.

The psychiatric consultation

  • Ten psychiatry pathways ready on day one: depression, anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, alcohol dependence, insomnia, ADHD and PTSD
  • Mental status recorded in your own words as part of the examination
  • History of the present illness, and past, family and personal history kept in versioned sections
  • With the Psychiatry module, a structured mental status examination and risk assessment in the consultation, and a mental health history kept as one current record
  • The risk flagged on the patient header(planned)

Rating scales

  • PHQ-9, GAD-7 and MMSE in the consultation
  • With the General Medicine and Primary Care module, PHQ-9 and GAD-7 stored with their inputs
  • With the Psychiatry module, PHQ-9 and GAD-7 stored with their answers at each visit, and psychological tests recorded as the psychologist reported them
  • PHQ-9 and GAD-7 drawn as a chart, and AUDIT, CIWA-Ar and EPDS(planned)

Confidentiality

  • Access by role and permission on every request: the front desk sees visits and bills, not the clinical note
  • Every change to the record written to an append-only audit trail
  • With the Psychiatry module, therapy notes behind their own read permission, held by the clinician and not by the administrator, and every read audited

Prescribing

  • Prescriptions from your formulary, with the schedule of each medicine held in the medicine master
  • In a video consultation, Schedule X and narcotic medicines refused at signing, as the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines require
  • A pharmacy counter sale of a scheduled drug needs the prescriber named
  • With the Psychiatry module, medication reviews with lithium and valproate levels charted and the next review on a due list
  • Blood count monitoring on a due list for clozapine(planned)

Long-term care

  • A treatment case for each condition’s course, and follow-up dates in one press
  • Video consultations with the Telemedicine module, with consent and the identity check recorded
  • Reminders by SMS or WhatsApp through your own accounts
  • With the Psychiatry module, therapy and counseling sessions as a series, with the goals worked on and the next session on a due list

What changes for the practice

Sensitive records, narrowly read

Who can open the clinical note follows the role, and every change is on the audit trail.

Scales without paper

PHQ-9, GAD-7 and MMSE open inside the consultation.

Remote reviews done properly

Video consultations record consent and identity, and refuse what may not be prescribed remotely.

Years of reviews in order

Each prescription stays with its visit, so the medication history reads back in sequence.

The modules a practice like this turns on

Modules are entitlements: enable what you need now and add the rest when you are ready. Nothing is re-implemented per specialty.

What gets configured for you

Roles that decide who may open a psychiatric recordReview intervals for long-term follow-upDrug catalog with the schedule of each controlled medicine

Most specialties differ in configuration rather than code: the same modules are enabled and set up differently. Where a specialty has a module of its own (twenty-three today, from Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Dentistry to Cardiology, Oncology and Nephrology), it is switched on per hospital. Where a specialty needs a capability the platform does not have yet, we say so during the demo rather than after you buy.

Questions we are asked

Who can read a psychiatric record?

Access follows the role and permission set by your hospital, checked by the server on every request: a front desk can see visits and bills without the clinical note. With the Psychiatry module, therapy notes have a permission of their own, which the administrator does not hold, and every read is audited.

Can we consult by video?

Yes, with the Telemedicine module. Consent and the identity check are recorded, and Schedule X and narcotic medicines from your master are refused on a video prescription.

Are rating scales stored on the record?

PHQ-9 and GAD-7 are stored with their answers when the Psychiatry module or the General Medicine and Primary Care module is on. Otherwise the calculators inform the consultation without saving.

Is there a psychiatry module?

Yes, switched on per hospital: a structured mental status examination and risk assessment, the mental health history, medication reviews, stored PHQ-9 and GAD-7, and protected therapy notes. Its forms are being reviewed by a psychiatrist before customer use.
