EMR and hospital software for endocrinology & diabetes

Diabetes and thyroid follow-up driven by regular lab results and each patient’s own target.

About endocrinology & diabetes

Endocrinology treats disorders of the hormone glands, and in Indian practice it is led by diabetes and thyroid disease, with obesity, osteoporosis, PCOS and pituitary disorders behind them. Care is a long series of reviews against targets.

What makes this specialty hard to run

The operational problems a system has to answer, before any feature list.

  1. 01

Diabetes and thyroid disease are managed over years, and the question each visit is whether the patient is at their target.

  2. 02

HbA1c, glucose, lipids and TSH are the evidence, and they come back on different days.

  3. 03

A busy clinic has hundreds of patients who are due for a review and have not come back.

  4. 04

Insulin and other doses change in small steps from visit to visit.

How Nirogix supports endocrinology & diabetes

Grouped the way the day runs. Every line says whether it is in the product today or planned.

Available todayPlanned, not available yet

Clinical pathways are reference content your clinical team reviews and edits as its own; nothing is ordered or prescribed until a doctor chooses it. Calculators inform a decision and do not write to the record. A line that needs a particular module names it.

Registers against your targets

With the General Medicine and Primary Care module.

  • Registers for diabetes, prediabetes, thyroid disease, dyslipidemia and obesity, each patient with the target the clinician sets; no guideline target is assumed
  • Each review records the measurement that judges the condition (HbA1c or fasting glucose, LDL, TSH) and the control it showed against that patient’s target at the time
  • A register that shows who is controlled, who is not, and who is overdue for review

The endocrine consultation

  • Nine endocrinology pathways ready on day one, from hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism and prediabetes to type 1 diabetes, osteoporosis and diabetic neuropathy, with type 2 diabetes and obesity among the general medicine pathways
  • Weight, BMI and blood sugar (fasting, post-meal or random) with the vitals, and a trend chart across visits
  • Diagnoses coded from common endocrine ICD-10-CM codes
  • With the Endocrinology module, an endocrine consultation with goiter grade, eye signs and other endocrine signs, and hormonal workups and DXA reports recorded as reported
  • A diabetes profile with complication screening, shared with primary care(planned)

Scores and calculators

  • HbA1c to average glucose, HOMA-IR, the Indian Diabetes Risk Score, BMI, ideal body weight and daily caloric needs in the consultation
  • The Indian Diabetes Risk Score and HOMA-IR stored with their inputs, with the General Medicine module
  • FRAX fracture risk, subject to its license(planned)

Investigations

  • HbA1c, lipid and thyroid panels ordered in the consultation, with flagged results beside the order
  • Thyroid ultrasound ordered with the Radiology module, with the signed report returned
  • With the Endocrinology module, TSH and free T4 charted across thyroid reviews, and HbA1c to average glucose and HOMA-IR stored with their inputs
  • HbA1c trends(planned)

Treatment and follow-up

  • Prescriptions from your formulary, and the last plan reusable at the next visit
  • A diabetic diet for admitted patients with the Diet & Nutrition module
  • Follow-up dates in one press, and reminders by SMS or WhatsApp through your own accounts
  • With the Endocrinology module, insulin titration as a series of reviews: home glucose readings and the doses the clinician decided, with the next review on a due list
  • Annual eye, foot and kidney screening on a due list(planned)

What changes for the practice

Targets that are yours

Each patient is judged against the target you set, and a past review keeps the target it was judged against.

The overdue list, worked

The register lists who has not come back, by your hospital’s own date.

Scores with their inputs

A stored IDRS or HOMA-IR keeps the values it was worked from.

One record across clinics

The same chart is open to diabetology, nephrology and cardiology.

The modules a practice like this turns on

Modules are entitlements: enable what you need now and add the rest when you are ready. Nothing is re-implemented per specialty.

What gets configured for you

Each patient’s targets on the registersReview intervals per conditionInvestigation catalog with HbA1c, lipid and thyroid panels

Most specialties differ in configuration rather than code: the same modules are enabled and set up differently. Where a specialty has a module of its own (twenty-three today, from Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Dentistry to Cardiology, Oncology and Nephrology), it is switched on per hospital. Where a specialty needs a capability the platform does not have yet, we say so during the demo rather than after you buy.

Questions we are asked

Does Nirogix calculate insulin doses?

No. With the Endocrinology module, insulin titration is a series of reviews in which the clinician records the doses decided; the product does not compute or recommend a dose.

Which targets does it use?

Yours. A target is a clinical decision for the patient, so no guideline target ships as a default, and a condition with no target is not judged.

Can we track complication screening?

Not yet as a due list. Eye, foot and kidney screening on an annual due list is planned in the Endocrinology module.

Is there an endocrinology module?

Yes, switched on per hospital: the endocrine consultation, insulin titration reviews, thyroid care with TSH trends, and hormonal workups. Its forms are being reviewed by an endocrinologist before customer use. The diabetes registers come from the General Medicine and Primary Care module, and a diabetes profile in the Endocrinology module is planned.
