About orthopedics

Orthopedics treats the bones, joints, ligaments and spine: injuries and fractures, degenerative disease such as osteoarthritis and spondylosis, sports injuries and deformities. Diagnosis leans on the examination and on imaging, laterality matters on every record, and care often runs from a plaster or an operation through months of follow-up and rehabilitation.

Surgery and implants

With the Operation Theater module.

  • Theater booking with the side recorded, the safety checklist, the anesthesia record and an operative note signed by the surgeon
  • Implants recorded by batch, serial number and maker, and posted to the inpatient bill
  • Instrument sets traced from the sterilization cycle to the operation, with CSSD
  • With the Orthopedics module, an implant record on the patient’s orthopedic chart, copied from the label so it traces to its batch
  • Joint replacement packages(planned)

Follow-up and rehabilitation

  • A treatment case for each injury, so every review and plaster change attaches to it

Most specialties differ in configuration rather than code: the same modules are enabled and set up differently. Where a specialty has a module of its own (twenty-three today, from Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Dentistry to Cardiology, Oncology and Nephrology), it is switched on per hospital. Where a specialty needs a capability the platform does not have yet, we say so during the demo rather than after you buy.

Questions we are asked

Can we store and view X-rays in Nirogix?

X-rays are ordered and reported in the product with the Radiology module, and films a patient brings are attached to the record. Viewing images inside the product needs the planned PACS.

Can we record implants?

Yes. In the Operation Theater module the charge sheet records each implant’s batch, serial number and maker, and posts it to the inpatient bill.

Is there a fracture register?

Yes, with the Orthopedics module: one record per fracture from diagnosis, its follow-up reviews filed under it, and the next review on a due list. The check X-ray is attached to the patient’s documents.

Can we refer patients to physiotherapy?

Yes, within the hospital. The referral is raised from the consultation and the physiotherapist opens the same chart.

Is there an orthopedics module?

Yes, switched on per hospital: joint and spine examinations, injuries, fractures with their follow-up and implant records. Its forms are being reviewed by an orthopedic surgeon before customer use. Operations stay in the Operation Theater module, and a joint map is planned.
