What it does today
- A donor register with eligibility checked at every donation
- Infection screening that releases a donation or discards it
- Stock by group and component, first to expire on top
- Blood requests from the ward, crossmatched by compatible group
- Issue to the ward and the transfusion recorded with any reaction
